Neuroblastoma are looking for new Trustees to join their Board. We are particularly looking for individuals with expertise in media public relations, legal, grant management, research and leadership. However we would love to hear from anyone with enthusiasm and commitment for our cause. 


Location: Remote  

Salary: Volunteer unpaid, travel expenses may be reclaimed.

Who should apply?

We are especially looking for new Trustees with experience in media/public relations, legal, grant management, research and leadership. However we would love to hear from anyone with energy, enthusiasm, and a drive for our cause. As a Charity founded by families affected by neuroblastoma we actively encourage those with lived experience of the disease to apply, but welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates. 

Requirements of all Trustees are: 

  • Integrity, passion and strategic vision

  • A commitment to the Neuroblastoma UK’s mission

  • A minimum commitment of 3 years term of office 

  • Good, independent judgement and a willingness to speak their mind 

  • An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties and responsibilities of a Trusteeship 

  • You must be at least 18 years of age

  • You must not be classed as disqualified due to any of the reasons listed by the Charity Commission, without the necessary waiver. These include:

    • Being bankrupt (in discharges) or having an individual voluntary arrangement

    • Having an unspent conviction for certain offences (including dishonesty or deception)

    • On the sex offenders’ register 

What is the purpose of this role?

To help our charity reach the next stage of our journey with the skills, expertise and knowledge to help drive the organisation forward to raise more awareness and funding for Neuroblastoma research. Neuroblastoma UK Board of Trustees ensure Neuroblastoma UK has a clear strategy, and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. The Trustees are the ‘guardians of purpose’, making sure that all decisions put the needs of our beneficiaries first. The Trustees have independent control over, and legal responsibility for, the Charity’s management and administration. 

What is the time commitment? 

Average of 4- 6 hours per month in addition for ongoing communications and decision making. The Charity holds 4 board meetings a year, each lasting approx. 2.5 hrs, plus preparation time. As representative of the Charity there will be fundraising and research events which we hope you show a willingness to attend, subject to your availability. 

What is the benefit of being a Charity Trustee? 

It is a fantastic way to put your professional skills to use to drive money into neuroblastoma research and to help provide more effective, and potentially, a cure for neuroblastoma. You will play an integral part in the way the Charity is run so we remain sustainable and financially viable. You will work with people from a range of different personal and professional backgrounds but all with a common and unifying goal to find better treatments for children with neuroblastoma .
