Cancer52

52% (recent statistics show an increase to 55%) of UK cancer deaths are from the less common cancers. Despite this, the less common cancers remain severely underrepresented and under-funded across all areas, including policy, services and research.

Cancer52 is an alliance of more than 100 organisations working to address this inequality and improve outcomes for patients with these highly challenging diseases. The group works to raise awareness of these less well-resourced types of cancer, and in particular to influence and support policymakers, researchers and pharmaceutical suppliers to improve and ameliorate the shortfalls. The group also serves as a forum to share experience and good practice for operating charities working in this area.
